  A soft core erotic thriller Reasons for watching : Caroline Ambrose and Jennifer Hammon are both young and very fit and they both enjoy a long sequence of lesbian love making . Very erotic , and fairly graphic for a soft core film . Reasons for not watching : The production values are very low , the sets are cheap and I don`t know if it`s the fault of the cinematographer but the picture quality is poor . And there is an fairly nasty thriller sub plot about a psycho killer . Watch it if you want . Just make sure you don`t watch it in front of your relatives

• Outstanding Soft Core Film

  Playboy's Eros line has built a library of good to excellent soft core films. Originally, their goal was to get higher profile actresses (see Kim Delaney in Temptress) into these films, and budget them higher. For whatever reason that didn't work, but they did manage to get soap opera veteran Jennifer Hammon to star in this one. This is clearly Eros' best work. First of all, a disclaimer: there are two versions of this film. An edited version which I've seen on Cinemax, and an unedited version which still does its intended job of titillation, even after repeated viewings. Do NOT get the edited version -- it's a waste of time, honestly. The following contains some plot spoilers, for what its worth, although I doubt anyone reading this really cares about the plot. The fact that I even remember the plot speaks well for the movie, however the plot isn't the reason to watch this film. A young woman named Allyson (Hammon) has applied to some Hollywood acting studio and gets accepted. She leaves her boyfriend behind and comes to Hollywood, where she rents an apartment from a weird old man and goes to the film studio. Apparently, this acceptance letter is some form of mass mailing, and the instructor (James Horan) laughs at her. For whatever reason, however, he lets her into his classes. Turns out Hammon is living next to a high class prostitute named Bridget(Ambrose) and they become close friends. A role Allyson is practicing for in her class is a prostitute, so she asks Bridget for advice on how to play the part of a sexually strong woman. Insert pep talk, lingerie try on, voyeurism session and eventually the two women make love. This scene still amazes me -- this is the most believable sex scene I think I've ever seen in a film. Both actresses seem to be completely into their work and comfortable with one another to such an extreme that it makes you wonder....sorry, got carried away there. Regardless, an outstanding scene. The movie turns into a bit of a silly murder mystery from then on, but during the course of the movie Hammon has sex scenes with two or three men (and Ambrose) as well as a couple of solo scenes, and Ambrose also appears in a number of scenes. The scenes range from being very suggestive and mostly covered to downright explicit. If you are looking for this type of film, this is an outstanding example. If you aren't looking for this type of film, why are you still reading this review?

• Late night erotic fare

  Familiar late night erotic movie from Channel 5 in the UK. Young country girl seeks fortune and fame in LA by taking acting lessons. Moves in next door to another fantastic looking girl who seems to enjoy a bit of hanky panky (Bridget). The goings on next door excite Allyson and she gets more than she bargains for when she looks through to the apartment next door when Bridget is getting it on with someone. Allyson seeks help from Bridget in how to control men for a part she is rehearsing. Allyson is obviously attracted to Bridget and the two of them get together in a very erotic scene which, quite frankly, is the best bit of the movie - made me very excited. Story and plot are the usual standard, only worth watching for the T and A.

• Hammon's charming performance makes Allyson worth watching.

  Considering the usual level of Made-For-Playboy movies, "Allyson is Watching" represents a landmark exception. Jennifer Hammon has the smile and charm of Sandra Bullock and her straight-forward performing style elevates this low budget (simulated) sex film beyond the norm. Allyson is an aspiring young actress who learns about sexual matters by spying on her prostitute neighbor and fighting off the advances of a pushy acting partner, an acting coach of questionable integrity, and a landlord with evil on his mind. Hammon jumped from this film to a regular role on the ABC soap "Port Charles," so you are not likely to see her in this type of film again. Now that she's moved on to Prime Time guest appearances, she's an actress worth watching.

  Sadly, I didn't get to see the English version, this was another dubbed but unrated version shown on a French channel. Jennifer Hammon, who looks like a cross between Sandra Bullock and Tea Leoni (and spends most of the film with a big smile on her face) plays an aspiring actress who moves to L.A. to study acting. When not trying to keep her dog from being seen by the super, she's been spying on her neighbour, played by Caroline Ambrose (who looks like ex-WWF hasbeen Chyna without the steroids). Ambrose is a prostitute who performs all sorts of sex acts for her clients. Hammon strikes up a friendship with Ambrose despite her secret spying games of her, while she also meets up with a guy who goes postal when she refuses to show him a little leg. It all ends up with a few people dead, but Jennifer and her smile remain intact. Still, good scenes for the watching, an attractive cast, and one of the better erotic thrillers before they switched to fantasy.
