Ask Tesadüfleri Sever (2011) Reviews
speachless...<3
I have made this account a few minutes ago...I thought I have so much to say about the story of this movie, about my review here...But now I find myself speechless... And I must specify,I'm not a great fan of love movies.Plus,I was against movies in other languages but English.I have decided this evening to try it anyway. But this one...the most beautiful film I have ever seen! It made me wonder if such coincidences happened in my life or in the life of my friends,family...I was planning to watch another movie after this one,but I don't wanna do it anymore.I want to go to sleep with these feelings, with this story in my head. I'm not so easy to impress generally, specially about love movies and dramas. Well, this one got me!
Love Story meets Amelie Turkish way
Brilliant movie, fantastic script with amazing performances. I have to admit that I was a bit sceptical with the poster, trailer and Turkish pop music. But from the opening scenes of 2 little newborns and their evolution trough life and photography and coincidences, this is simply just a brilliant piece of movie making.Full stop. All this is told trough amazing set pieces and I must admit that Ankara and Istanbul look stunning. There are occasional sugar-sweet moments but the line where dad explains to son that his life is in-between limited borders, but what he does in-between those borders is what really matters stayed with me. The coincidences, the photographic memories which were lost and found and ultimately re-united and the whole story telling is just simply excellent. The summary about Love Story (great ending) meets Amelie ( with all the different locations) Turkish way just gives you a small hint what kind of movie this is. American re-make must be on the way, which probably will be much worse, so until then please check out this movie wherever you can because you will not be disappointed.
Love likes Coincidences, may be not that many but that's just how it is best described...
I watched the movie "Ask Tesadüfleri Sever" - "Love Likes Coincidences" tonight the 11th of February 2011, and loved it by all means... In a movie, if you don't believe in a few coincidences, it is one thing, but in this movie, the story telling is a musical coincidences symphony in which two parallel lives, a love and the people circling around are successfully portrayed. Ömer Faruk Sorak is a powerful director who makes the spectator find a place for him/herself a place in the story. He just finds the tempo and lets the river flow... Mehmet Günsür & Belçim Bilgin as the two main characters just fit in too... Especially Mehmet Günsür with his performance and charisma gives the movie the energy it needs. I'd like to congratulate Gökçe Doruk Erten as the director of casting too.. Since the movie covers a story of two people from their ages 7-10 up to end of 20's it is actually difficult to cast a continuum and that was done superb. In many successful American movies you sometimes get shocked by the casting of characters by different actors in such a long and evoluting piece of time. Also an Oscar goes to Ipek Sorak who has created a perfect symphony of coincidences that lead to a touching love with her concept & story. Thanks for all the efforts, I can say "Ask Tesadüfleri Sever" is the best Turkish movie I've watched for the last few years.
I applaud Turkish cinema!
Before I proceed let me give to you my background as an audience viewing a Turkish movie. I have absolutely no idea about Turkish culture, the language, the people, the food or the music let alone Turkish cinema. But after years of having become frustrated and annoyed with the lack of quality and essence of Hollywood romance I knew I had to turn to a new film industry altogether to satisfy my need for romance (as a movie enthusiast). How I stumbled upon this title is another story but I wish to thank IMDb for that, I would just say that this movie is easily the best romance movie I have ever seen. It just checks all the right boxes! Let me appreciate the chemistry between the pair, Ozgur and Deniz first, their love looks real and not overdone at all. It is just perfect, just about right. I have always believed that for the romance genre no matter how big a star cast you manage to get, if the chemistry between the two leads is not there you just fail. Before Sunrise and Sunset are prime examples of successful romantic cinema which worked because the couple worked too, of course a script is ever important but it's the actors that attract you in the first place. The story line never bores the viewer even though you might find yourself predicting what happens in the end, your prediction will most likely come 5 minutes before the movie ends, so you can be sure to enjoy every bit of this amazingly done film.
Glad It Was My First Turkish Movie!
I'm trying to watch many foreign movies to get introduced to different cultures. Plus, Hollywood does not interest me as much as it used to be. However, I've never thought of watching a Turkish movie before because I'm not a fan of Turkish series so I thought why should I. Anyways, let me tell something. I'm glad I've changed my mind and I'm glad I picked this one. Hence the title, this movie is FULL of coincidences! So if you are too stuck to reality, don't watch it cause it will be shallow, silly and full of nonsense! Let us dreamers enjoy it TBH, lots of what happened in the movie is considered to be crazy coincidences but that did not ruin it for me. Love is a strange thing, is it not? The lead actor and actress did a great job not to mention the lovely chemistry between the two of them. You can feel their love, I'm serious :)
