An interesting film from Francis Ng.
What is A Good Teacher (2000) follows a troubled man who tries to re-invent himself as a high school teacher. An interesting movie that's a nice treat. Francis Ng is one of the Hong Kong cinema's most underrated actors. He can pull off psycho or nut-job roles with the greatest of ease. But playing a retrained role like this one takes a lot of talent.. A different change a pace from his last film but it leaves the viewers with an question that'll have you searching in your mind for an answer. What is a good teacher? Appearances from Dayo Wong (as an expensive and utterly useless tutor) Anthony Wong and the elder statesman Hoi-Shan Kwan who takes Francis under his wing and shows him the tricks of the trade. Highly recommended.
