Worth Watching for the Interviews
Contamination: A Convention Story (2012) *** (out of 4) This documentary clocks in at just over a hour and it takes a look at the 2011 Contamination convention, which took place in St. Louis and featured a wide range of guests and some of them are interviewed for this film. This documentary tries to shine the light on the festival as well as those fans who attend it and the celebrities who agree to be there. Tony Todd, Kane Hodder, Brad Loree, Alex Hyde-White, Bill Johnson, Seka and Veronica Hart are just a few of the familiar faces that are interviewed here but we also get interviews with several of the fans as well as the event organizers. For the most part there's nothing ground-breaking about this documentary but if you're a fan of the celebrities here then you'll certainly be entertained by their interview segments. On the whole this kept me entertained throughout its running time and we get a good idea of what the famous people think about these type of events as well as the fans who wait in line for hours to get to meet them. We also get some fun stories from the fans who get to meet people they've always looked up to. Again, there's nothing overly great here and the production values are low but the entertainment comes from the actual interviews and that alone makes this worth watching.

CONTAMINATION: A CONVENTION STORY is a straight-up documentary filmed at the 'Contamination' convention that took place in Missouri a few years back. The entire thing is made up of interview clips evenly dispersed between attendees and celebrities visiting; the usual horror stars are present so expect the likes of Tony Todd and Kane Hodder to chat a bit. I find such documentaries to be useful guides for those of us who couldn't make it, and there are some amusing moments, like the bit where the video game fanboy cries his eyes out when he discovers that Todd did a voice part in the video game HALO.
