Dead Enders (2010) Reviews
Not what you think it's going to be.
Sydney (Collins) has serious abandonment issues due to the death of her one true love Max (Ellingsen). Having gone completely over the deep end, Sydney captures Robert (Gandrud) from a local bar and holds him captive in a cage in a room that resembles a makeshift dungeon. This begins a road to survival for Robert as he tries to escape the crazy in the head Sydney. This independent effort sets up like it's going to be low grade torture porn but Writer / Director Paul C. Hemmes turns Dead Enders into something else. Instead of torture porn, Hemmes looks into the brain of this deranged character and some sequences are purely happening in her mind. Robert simply wants to escape before she kills him and who could blame him. There is a dark presence that seems to be infecting the room even though it isn't completely explained. Sure there is a little torture, but that isn't what this movie is about. Some blood is shed but Hemmes turns the camera away at the last second or cuts away leaving some of it up to your imagination. This certainly isn't a grueling torture show as it might look like from a distance and that is welcomed. The two leads are quite good and carry the movie. The limited locations and some lapses in the script hurt the overall film, and it could have used a few jumps to help it along. Interesting, and worth a look.
Scary little movie
My boyfriend purchased this on a whim. I really wasn't interested until it started to play and it immediately had me. The girl is insane and reminded me of a girlfriend who tried the same stunt with my brother, her then boyfriend. I don't want to spoil what this girl does to him, but it's gruesome. The guy in it wasn't bad to look at either. I have seen horror movies with no story or attempt to crawl inside of a sick mind and this flick does . The girl is so creepy. I cant wash her out of my mind!! I read some of the reviews and wonder if we are watching different movies. I suggest if you come across this watch the creepy girl. If anything the lead actress can act! Scary little movie.
LARRY HAS COME TO JOIN US
Robert aka Larry (Seth Gandrud) gets captured and imprisoned by Sydney (Christie Collins). Sydney keeps her dead lover Max (Matthew Ellingsen) also in the faux dungeon. She is clearly crazy as Robert attempts escapes. The film goes no where. The dialogue is boring. The sound of the fire place crackling superimposed on the conversation was annoying and did nothing for any effect. The film was difficult to sit all the way through. I would say it is worth a punch on the hacker card. F-bomb. sex. Nudity (Christie Collins)
This "movie" is one big DEAD END!
Forget the storyline because it's more entertaining than the "movie" is. I'm putting quotes on movie because it's more of a bad film school "project". Right from the start you can see from the dollar store set and the horrific acting that you just know you won't won't be watching the entire thing. Then the god awful music starts playing and the combination attack on my eyes and my ears made me want to vomit (and I like rock/metal). It's so bad I don't know what to say, just think of the worst horror flick you've ever seen and this will match it. I usually don't review a horrible film but for this one people need a warning!
