Renee and Jack Murphy, a forensic investigator for the Portland Police Department and a computer systems designer respectively, have been married for six months. Prior to Jack, Renee had seriously dated Detective Kyle Ferguson, with who she still works at the PPD. Kyle admits that he still has feelings for Renee, but respects what she needed to do for her own life in breaking up with him and marrying Jack. Kyle and Jack were also best friends, that friendship which has been strained by Jack and Renee's marriage. Kyle himself is a widower, his wife Holly, who was also an officer at the PPD, having been murdered, with her killer never caught. In the City's latest homicide, that of a young woman, Renee notices some evidence that is remarkably similar to a cold case, the specific case she cannot remember. If there is indeed a connection, that would mean that there is a serial murderer loose in the City. Renee and her forensic colleague Tim Watson uncover more and more forensic evidence, ...

Evidence of Truth (2016) Reviews
Not believable ...spoiler alert@@####
My review focus is less on the acting and more on technical details. Just watched 3/30/17. Spoiler alert....! Details about plot to follow.... When the forensic spouse lifted a fingerprint from her husband's wine glass and ran it in the system, she discovered a match already in the system that revealed his true identity and criminal past. Later they say due to her running this fingerprint, they arrest her husband because NOW they have a partial match to the fingerprint on a piece of evidence. However they had run the partial fingerprint earlier and had no matches. HELLO, if he was in the system already as a criminal, his fingerprint would have come up the first time they ran it and it would have nothing to do with her running his fingerprint from the glass. After all, that fingerprint she entered matched the one in the system tied to his past criminal history. Other details were missed like if you suspected your husband was a serial killer and you dumped his stuff and found a storage locker key, you would not leave the dumped contents on the bed for him to discover you had found it and tip him off. It was not believable that the detective who lost his wife would not remember his wife had ropes tied on her hands in four strands in the exact same manner as the recent killings, especially when the Forensics partner kept saying it reminded her of another crime scene. And he certainly would not argue a point like that being her imagination when you know as a detective it would be branded into his memory that was how he found his wife.
OK I will admit it....I did not identify the right serial killer
99 out of 100 times I can usually predict within the first 30 minutes of this type of made for TV murder mystery who the (serial) killer is, but admittingly I picked the wrong serial killer. It seemed quite obvious (at least to me it did) who was responsible for the string of murders taking place right under the police departments nose. Renee Murphy (Andrea Roth) is the Supervisor forensic investigator for a local police department who has developed a superior reputation in her crime solving laboratory to crack murder cases. When one of her fellow detectives is subsequently found murdered there are a number of suspects from within her own police department that may or may not be the key suspect that is responsible for the recent string of what appear to be linked murders. Renee recently married a computer software success story named Jack Murphy (Woody Jeffreys) who was (past tense) best friends with a fellow mountain climber named Kyle Ferguson (Sebastian Spence). Kyle is a lead detective at the same precinct that Renee is a forensic investigator for and the two used to date but it just was not a serious relationship for Renee, although Renee and Kyle's daughter liked each other very much. Kyle lost his wife not too long ago who was also murdered and her killer is still unknown. So Kyle buries himself in his work and supporting his teenage daughter even though it irritates him to see his former best friend Jack Murphy and his former girlfriend Renee now married. This made for TV thriller has a few twists and turns some of which are predictable and some twists and turns not so predictable. I will admit that the ending was better than most made for TV thrillers so I give the film a decent 6 out of 10 rating.
Don't waste your time
Average Lifetime movie flick. Poor quality, obvious plot, and creepy, but not in a good way. Woman is basically torn between two lovers. She has had a relationship with both, but now she is married to guy number 2. He is very good looking, but has a mysterious past. No spoilers here. The husband is creepy, and no advanced forensic degree is needed to figure out whodunit.
The lead actress has her hands full.
Possibly the effeminate sneak of a husband of the lead actress Renee is the person responsible for a wine glass disappearing and reappearing at the sundeck barbecue scene. The lead Renee makes a poor detective. She didn't even notice when in the coffee shop that that sneak of a husband moved her table, added an extra table next to hers and also added extra back ground performers. All this while she is having coffee and a brief conversation with her friend. In her past Renee dumps co worker Detective Kyle to marry sneaky Jack and then uses her forensic training to prove that the mincing husband is a cheat. There is humour throughout the film. One scene at the station office whilst she is talking to another high heeled co worker Detective Kyle is now portraying a cop in uniform. Go figure?? Kyle and another uniform are dragging poor Jack (In Cuffs) past Renee. Jack shrugs off Kyle gets in Renee's space and "Plants a Big Kiss". Kyle pulls Jack away and continues through the office. All the while Jack shouts to Renee "I didn't do this"," I didn't do this" "I Love You" "I Love You". I must admit I found the actors and the extras all likeable. And whilst being dragged handcuffs is being dragged panther bysneak
Good murder mystery for Andrea Roth fans
This movie features Lifetime Heroine (LH) Renee, played by the well preserved (age 49) and well constructed Lifetime regular Andrea Roth. Contrary to another review her hair is very attractive. The LH is the supervisor of the two person CSI unit for a city police department. Her husband Jack appears to be at the very least a Lifetime Bad Dude (LBD) or possibly the Lifetime Psycho (LP). It opens with the LH doing some rock climbing with her husband Jack, who quizzes her about carabiners. The LH works with ex-boyfriend Kyle, who is a police detective. Kyle was friends with Jack. The LH likes Jack's teenage daughter. The cops and Jack meet at Billy Miner's which should give away this was set in Portland Oregon but shot in BC Canada, eh? The first homicide case is a female lawyer. Body count: 1. This case triggers a memory of a cold case for the LH. Turns out it was the case of Kyle's murdered wife, something he apparently forgot. Doesn't say much for his detective skills. The LH is going to surprise Jack at lunch and sees him meet another woman and kiss her, albeit on the cheek. The LH runs Jack's print from a wine glass and learns he had a criminal past under a different name. She eventually calls him out on it and he says he is her sponsor at a local drug program. The LH follows up and confirms with the woman she was being sponsored by Jack, who by now has been arrested since his prints were on some evidence from a crime scene. A review takes place The LH is suspended after a review finds she had Jack's print in one of her files. Meanwhile there is a second homicide, one of their female officers, who was found in similar circumstances to the other case. Body count: 2. This time the killer may have left a hair. The LH lets off some steam by hitting a boxing bag (again contrary to another review, she does not do this wearing heels, her feet are never shown). Jack is released by the DA under the assumption someone set him up. The LH is returned to duty. It's looking like her subordinate worker Tim could be the LP here. This is supported when the hair from the second scene is a match to his. He is brought in but won't talk to anyone but the LH. He says he loved Jade & would never hurt her, but she didn't feel the same about him. The LH had seen a photo on Tim's desk of Jade and another woman. She sees it has the logo of the drug rehab program. The LH finds a key to a storage room at her home that Jade had either left or had been looking for. She finds some pictures of Jack and Jade there. She also finds some carabiners. The LH gets a text from Tim that he has Jack and for her to meet him at the Devil's punch bowl (the setting where the movie opened). The LH arrives and in what can be described as another reason why Lifetime is not just television for women takes off her jacket to run into the woods wearing only her tight t-shirt and jeans. She sees Tim's body at the bottom. Body count: 3. The LH is confronted by Jack and she accuses him of being the killer. In a really weak conclusion even though she is in a fighting stance, all she does is push him over the cliff. Body count: 4. Four weeks later it is a sunny day. The LH has been promoted to head of CSI, which is what she was already doing, but the truly good news is she can now date Kyle. His daughter is happy about that. They walk off together happily until the next Lifetime movie. A middle of the road movie on both of my scales. Good body count, but atypically very limited female in jeopardy scenes. Real movie score: 5/10 (higher is better). Lifetime movie score: 5/10 (higher is stupider).
