  I wish there were more movies like this. I always find it interesting when they depict actual events. It is a movie you can watch more than once and you get something out of it each time. It is in black & white which is effective in the placement of the movie in the period. It is a reminder of a day gone by if you are older and educational if you are younger. If you are a lover of jazz you will also enjoy some of the music. I attended the screening at the Lied Center and they had a Q & A with a gentleman who attended KU at that time. He said the film is very accurate. This film needs wider distribution. If it happens to show in your area please take the time to see it. As would be expected all Jayhawk fans throughout the country should try to see this production.

  Finally found this movie On Demand (Vimeo) and purchased it. I'm glad I did. Kip Niven's portrait of Phog Allen is heartbreaking (why isn't he on screen much anymore.) I had no idea the animosity between Allen and his successor Dick Harp. This movie really made me suspect that if Allen had been allowed to stay on as the KU coach, the Jayhawks would have won the national title with Chamberlain. The Jazz soundtrack drives the movie (reminds me of Birdman) and the Black and White photography helps set the mood as well. It's also nice to see a non-Empire performance from local Kansas Citian Trai Byers. The civil rights struggles of blacks in the 1950's is well depicted. Having lived and gone to school in Lawrence, Kansas it's hard to imagine that at one time in that city, blacks had to watch movies in the balcony and eat restaurant meals in the kitchen. I am going to have to try and find more of Kevin Willmott's work - especially CSA - The Confederate States of America. The only negative is my experience with Vimeo on my roku. The video drops out 3/4 of the way through the movie. I would suggest ordering the DVD from the Jayhawkers website as a better viewing option. I highly recommend this movie to everyone, not just Jayhawk or Chamberlain fans.

  Well, I attended KU Law School from 1969 to 1972, and I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. We bought the DVD as we could not find "Jayhawkers" on TV, even On Demand. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the movie as we are die hard KU fans...basketball and every other sport as well. Lawrence is a unique town, and this movie captures the atmosphere perfectly...back then. Nowadays, we get back there every chance we get. It is hard to get seats to see KU play at Allen Field House, so this movie is kind of a good substitute. The cast of this movie is superb, and the actor who played Wilt did a great job.
