JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai (2015) Reviews

  • JK - A Valuable Cinema

    srimansrini2015-03-11

JK Enum Nanbanin Vazhkai (Life of A Friend Called JK) Written and directed by Cheran, this is one of the heart-wrenching stories ever made for cinema. Keeping relationships at the forefront, the story carries a vital message for the modern day youth. Told in non-linear fashion, it unfolds the life of JK (Jayakumar). JK is a typical modern day youngster from Chennai. Alienating from his family members, he spends most of his time chatting on Facebook or roaming with his friends. When a New Year eve drunken party ends in an accident, he loses his close-friend due to his careless attitude. And that incident makes him understand the value of relationships and the pain of parents. Now the reformed JK searches a suitable place in the world to lead a life of his own. Soon, the out-of-the-box thinker JK, with the like- minded friends, starts a new business venture and become a successful entrepreneur in no time.. JK helps his close-friend Nithya (Nithya Menon) to fix her heart problem and supports the family of a close friend who died due to his negligence. JK also quickly arranges a marriage for his younger sister and buy a home for his family to lead a peaceful life. It looks when everything going smoothly, Nithya finds a shocking truth about JK and what happens next forms the story. The film has several wonderful features besides its strong storyline. The lead artistes- Shravanand and Nithya Menon- add enormous depth to their well-etched characters. Exploiting the opportunity, Shravanand creates a wonderful screen persona to his character without doing any gimmicks. Nithya Menon, on her part, plays a perfect sheet anchor role. Santhanam's non-intrusive comedy is amusing to watch. Likewise, Prakash Raj and Mano Bala's cameo appearances are simply delightful. The cinematography of Siddharth is excellent as the neatly framed scene unfolds one by one and it takes us to the different world. The impeccable music with its toe-tapping dancer numbers and a lively and energetic theme song shows the caliber of G.V. Prakashkumar. The mellifluous melodies of Na. Muthukumar like "Nee Enna Pesuvai", and Madan Karky's youthful songs like "Facebook Login Pannu" are certainly stand-out factors of this film. Though the story moves in a zig zag way, still it maintains the tempo from beginning to end and that shows the acumen of Cheran. Even the less significant scenes like JK creating a new business idea based on people's necessity and JK is appointing an unknown street artiste based on his talents are well-done. Above all, the unforgettable climax alone places this movie on top. More than its salient features, the absence of double meaning dialogues, stunts, intimate scenes between lead artistes, item songs, violence or vulgar language make this drama eminently entertaining. Loftily holding its message, "the importance of leading a life with principles and purpose" the film undeniably touches our heart with its neatly structured screenplay. Crafted with perfection, the film strikingly takes this message to the carefree Facebook generation with touch-of-class. By R. Srinivasan

  • Cheran's New classss!!!

    chandru-karthi-32015-04-06

Once again cheran(DIRECTOR) proved his class. Its really worth and entertain to watch. Film contains lot of messages for youth and also it contains lot of innovative ideas for the youth.Really a good thinking from director. And the cast selection and dialogs are pretty good. We can see a different santhanam(without double meaning dialogs) in this film, credit goes to both cheran and santhanam. In last part of the film the story about bird is very nice. But in last part film feels little slow but story override those flaws. A nice homely entertain movie, thanks for Cheran. All the best for your future and your C2H(cinema to home) concept. We expecting lot of good movies through your C2H. Just watch this movie!! Bye :-)

  • A clean watch..

    fahimay2015-04-01

Director Cheran gives an intro on the concept of C2H (Cinema to Home) which reflects the concern of film makers to not lose the essence of their creativity to business motivated financiers and distributors. Movie starts off with Herculean accomplishments by the protagonist to succeed and make money. Though it was indicated as a non-linear narration in the beginning itself, this was nothing new or fresh and the coming events were quite predictable. For eg: The bike's speed reducing over a period of two years clearly gives away the presence of a fateful incident in that gap. And the mystery surrounding the protagonist also was not so difficult to figure out. You get a whiff of 180, P.S. I love You, Autograph and other movies that share frames with this movie. Overall, it was not an entirely bad watch. It does have its moments and is a clean movie that can be watched with children. One song that touched my heart with beautiful lyrics was 'Vazhi nedigilum'. Music was nothing magical but few songs are hummable.

  • JK Ennum Nanbanin Vazhkai is a good treat from Cheran to all movie lovers

    chitralokam2015-03-12

JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai is an Tamil film written and directed by Cheran. It stars Sharwanand, Nithya Menen, while Prakash Raj and Santhanam play supporting roles. JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai is all about Jaya Kumar aka JK (Sharvananth) and his unique way of approaching life. From Cheran's earlier movies we know his talent,JK Ennum Nanbanin Vaazhkai is a very brilliant movie which is filled with a lot of feel good moments and positive aspects of life with inspiring narration. Cheran has scripted the film in such a way that there are some well written characterizations and excellent depiction of human relationships. The poignant bond between JK and Nithya (Nithya Menon) is easily one of the best written tracks between a male and female lead in Tamil cinema, nobody can call it romance or friendship or classify it under any regular relationships. The dialogues in the film are sharp and trendy that the last few minutes interactions between Nithya Menon and Sharwanandh are class apart, writer S Ramakirshnan must be lauded for his brilliant dialogues.
