inventive
It's not that bad at all guys! Well, if you are a 'grown up' guy you probably have different standards than kids. And even kids don't spare their critics nowadays. But when Jolly Roger was on television in Indonesia this week, (June 28th, 2004), I found myself enjoying a good deal of fun together with a bunch of other grown up guys. Now is a dubbed film something I hate, I rather had heard the original voices, but hey, it IS for kids, so I had to do with the bad translation. But in general it was fun to watch this movie, with some surprising funny characters, like the angels watching the earth. I have always enjoyed watching kids movies from Scandinavia. They always tend to listen to the kids rather than the adults who always have an opinion what kids like. Maybe that's why I like the awards given at Cinekid (see IMDb awards) where the kids choose their favorite and often that's not what the adults would choose! I would say, this film is not that bad at all, inventive in the way it portrayed the characters, and I am looking forward to more of this. Luckely, the Indonesian television is using this 3 weeks 'summerholiday' to give the kids here a little bit of Scandinavian fun, and I wouldn't miss it for the world!
What a mess...
Impossibly confusing, poorly written and directed kids movie with basically the same cast and crew as "I Kina Spiser de Hunde", but without that film's quality. Kim Bodnia gained several pounds and grew a beard for his role as pirate Jolly Roger, all in vain, because the film is hopelessly amateurish and even boring, with primitive special effects and stunts. Will make kids squirm in their seats and adults reaching for the remote...what a waste! 1/10
