Raja Sen`s adaptation of the Rabindranath Tagore classic releases in the year of Tagore`s 150th birth centenary, and stars Bollywood siren Raveena Tandon. Raveena plays Sohini, a Punjabi girl married to a Bengali who suddenly faces a crisis when her husband dies leaving her with a laboratory which she has to manage. The laboratory becomes a bone of contention between Sohini and her daughter Nila. But Sohini chooses the laboratory over her daughter, and the mother-daughter duo are separated over this matter.
