Mussanje Maathu is directed by debutant Mahesh. The story revolves around a radio jockey, Pradeep who hosts an evening programme. He consoles emotionally affected people via radio. One such caller who seeks his advice is Tanu, who is trying to come to terms with losing her mother and her father`s abandonment. Tanu falls in love with Pradeep. After Tanu is re-united with her reformed father with the efforts of Pradeep, her father arranges her marriage with someone else. What happens next is what forms the crux of the film.
