What's really tragic is that this movie had so much potential to be great. I loved the psychic and destiny angle in the great traditions of only you ( R.D.J/Tomei and classic 3 coins in a fountain) The main actress has a lot of charisma and could carry the movie well. As soon as there is a scene of a threesome of two guys with the girl they had just insulted a few minutes earlier and one of the guys is married, I thought 1) that would never happen, and 2) this was written by a guy. Later in the movie they learned to do yoga so they could reach their penises. ::sigh:: there are great male writers such as Cameron Crowe in fast times, that even though there were sex scenes, they had a purpose, there were consequences and the movie had heart. I didn't care about any of the characters here. I wanted to like the main actress but couldn't understand how she could be a lawyer yet allow herself to be treated horribly by her fiancée. He dumps her for another woman & 2 weeks later, he changes his mind, and she's like "ok I'll take you back?!" What?! The two guy friends were very annoying and not funny at all. One is married with children, but takes viagra so he can have sex with girls at a frat party?! The women friends start out fine but then it turns out they hate each other. It doesn't work like that when you're an adult. You don't have to hang out in a group like in high school. You have a friend, you can meet them individually for a coffee or dinner or go to their place. It saddens me that movies are written this way these days. Especially when this movie could've been wonderful and instead illustrates the decline of...what we used to love about movies.

  • very clever and funny indie comedy

This is a clever and funny little Indie movie. The script is really good. Ok. It's crude like a lot of comedies are these days BUT it's also written with intelligence, a rare commodity in movie making at any time. The acting is good, the script is good. It's made in Canada. Canadians always like you to know that. And all the actors are Canadian. Canadians also like you to know that. You might think they're Americans. They look like Americans. Talk like Americans but they're Canadian. Sorry to get off on this little North American tangent but really if you like a good, funny rom-com that has some actual originality to it, this is a good bet.

  • A Canadian version of a Farrelly Bros movie

This is like a mid-level Farrelly Bros movie. Not in the class of Dumb and Dumb or There's Something about Mary, but above misfires like Outside Providence or Stuck on You. The story is eminently predictable (and eminently depressing/unlikely --- our heroine is pretty damn hot and supposedly smart, which suggests that she has more options than just "awful man" and "loser boy", guess which she picks), but has enough funny (and, yes, gross-out) scenes along the way to justify the journey.

I am going to watch it in theatres a second time and taking a bunch of friends as well. I know they are going to enjoy it. Sometimes you just need to be able to relate and to laugh and I think a lot of people are going to be able to feel that way with this film. Everyone has had a time when they were faced with a tough decision and its nice to be able to relate to that in a really funny way. I enjoyed Patrick's character quite a bit. I thought the whole experience was amazing. Cant wait to watch it again!

  • Katherine Barrell, really?!

    kaeley_eve122019-01-01

I initially watched this movie because I LOVE Katherine Barell. I love her in Wynonna Earp, and I love the person she is. She's kind, and a strong independent feminist and woman. I was actually shocked after I watched this movie, that she would take a role where women are degraded the ENTIRE movie. I mean you can tell this movie must have been written by a man. The way the male characters talked about the women in this movie, treated them, and their misogynistic humor was a turn off from this movie for sure. I know it's just a role, but come on! The male characters in this movie, the way they talked, joked, and treated women was repulsive.
