Now I am not rating this a 10 because this is next Titanic or Avatar, or has some big name star that delivered an award winning performance. This movie gets a 10 because of the heart and determination as well as the acting and the writing put forth by a small group of people out of Florida. This movie captures the Do It Yourself spirit perfectly and the filmmakers are extremely grateful as they even responded to me when I emailed them earlier this month about there release. With a simple plot you follow a couple on a road trip that leads them to a small town called Rock Bottom Creek. At this point we meet Sheriff Ringo and his group of deputies that rival the Keystone Cops if the cops were wearing flannels and rocking mustaches. These guys bumble around town while a psychopath lurks in the shadows and stalks his next victims. This movie kept me laugh with wisecracking comments and dialog while keeping me glued to my seat waiting to see who was going to fall victim to the masked man with an assortment was weapons. The movie was relentless with the action and kept me in my seat despite needed to pee. However after watching the movie I was a little nervous about using the restroom because of the toilet scene in the film. The actors and actresses were extremely approachable in the lobby after the film and even shared how they pulled off certain scene without the use of CGI. I look forward to seeing what this group does as a follow up to their first film. Good luck to all of you. I was impressed with your efforts. - Sgt. Roy Miller

  • Not your average indie horror film!

After hearing about this movie from a Rock Bottom Creek flyer I decided to give this one a chance and drove 45 minutes to make it to one of their screenings. That said I was very impressed. For an indie horror flick the story was actually good, the acting was convincing, and the action never stopped! The directors did a freaking amazing job with what they had and with a bigger budget they could easily turned this into a movie worthy of Hollywood. The sheriff is probably the most memorable character. This guy was so believable as a power drunk a-hole I legitimately hated him in a way that made me forget that this was just a movie. I saw him in the lobby after the screening and he was actually a nice guy. As a b-movie this crew was innovative and did not really rely on the regular staples of a b movie like sex or wanton gore but the death scenes were intense and there were moments I laughed out loud and others were I was either held in suspense or left feeling uncomfortable. There was a kill scene that made my jaw drop and one scene in particular that made me want to hurl because it was gross. I have seen a swirly but never like this! Overall I would definitely give this movie a thumbs up. The only negative comments would be that there was a scene were the screen was dark for too long and you could only hear someone getting killed and the music was really loud at times.

  • Stand out of the night.

I attended a Horror based film festival in Tampa over the weekend with my brother who lives in the area. Going in to this I had no clue what to expect other than to probably be bored with a bunch of Blair Witch / found footage rip offs and boy was I wrong. There were some good entries but my favorite was the last movie of the night, Rock Bottom Creek. This movie had everything you could want like witty dialogue, creative situations, and crazy characters and tons of ass kickings. It was like Napolean Dynamite meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The costumes were really good, the effects were old school not CGI, and it looks like these guys took a beating making this movie. What I liked most were the jokes, the ending, and the bathroom scene. GROSS!!! The locations were awesome too. The main character is this smart ass guy named Vick and the movie follows him and his girlfriend (who was very easy on the eyes) on a road trip through the deep south. They get caught up in the middle of nowhere and that is where the movie takes off and never slows down until the credits roll. Without giving too much away the Sheriff is a wild dude and by far stole the show with his performance. I even saw him leaving the festival and he didn't have a country accent. His deputies were all really good too. They really put a bruising on...well you'll have to watch the movie to find out. Good acting, great story, and could go pretty far. I wish the film festival let the audience pick our favorite films cause these guys have my vote. Good luck.

  • Impressive for a local horror movie

Rock Bottom Creek was pretty impressive for a local horror film. I got a flier for the movie from a Halloween Express and decided to give it a go after the clerk told me that this movie was made by people in the area. Now let me explain why I rated this movie somewhere around a 7. I noticed that there were a few votes that gave this movie a 1 this is way too low of a score and suggests that the voter probably didn't see this movie at all and there were some 10's which may be a little too generous for this type of movie. This movie hits the mark as being an interesting horror flicks with bits of dark humor, intense action, and creativity and for that this movie is worthy of a decent score. My only complaints about this film is that it was really loud at times and there was an obvious product placement for a comic book store in the movie which made me think of Wayne's World. The movie follows a couple as they embark on a weekend road trip. The girlfriend of this group was one of the better actors in the movie but the boyfriend is not without his charm as well. His interaction with the people in Rock Bottom Creek keep you interested in what is going to happen next. At this point the movie begins to feel like Halloween and Grindhouse, remixed with Troma films. The plot was easy to follow and satisfied a horror fans blood lust without going overboard like most low budget films attempt to do. In fact the most horrific scene does not even involve anyone getting killed but it does involve a disgusting toilet bowl and a face. Rock Bottom Creek has potential and could pick up a strong cult following. The screening I went to was packed and two guys came out to introduce the movie and then the actors were in the lobby afterward talking to the audience. I love the fact that these guys are from my town and shot a part of the movie here at the mall too!

  • Indie Horror Fun

I have always been a fan of horror films that have the capability to keep you tense while still having the ability to have comedic relief so that you don't feel stressed for an entire hour and a half. Rock Bottom Creek does this very well. Your classic tale of "couple on vacation takes wrong turn" is in full effect here with an eclectic cast of characters ranging from the desperate and clueless boyfriend lead, to the aggressive backwoods cop gone bad. Mick Sawyer's role as Sheriff Ringo is the easy stand out performance of this movie. Right off the bat you know exactly what kind of character your getting as he sets the pace early by belittling and threatening his own officer with snappy and memorable lines. Reminiscent of a young Sheriff Hoyt from Texas Chainsaw Massacre(2003) With only a few missteps in audio, a few scenes a bit too dark, and a few toss away transition scenes, this was a really fun and entertaining film. If you're a fan of the old school style of campy horror, then this is right up your alley.
