• An all time low for Keach

  "Sunstorm" is one of those junk flicks like "Maui Heat" which have some lame action/drama as an excuse to get a bunch of T&A in front of the viewer for pure titillation. However, in this bottom-of-the-barrel film, Marvin, Eisenman, and crew have substituted Keach and Derek for titillators in an apparent attempt to bring credibility to what is just another lousy flick. In spite of a beautiful Puerto Rican backdrop and a bunch of babes, "Sunstorm" is a messy slapped together B flick loser with no reason for existing save a pay check for cast and crew. Pass on this turkey. (D)

• Money is Power..Power is Everything

  ***SPOILERS*** Far out story about a missing two billion dollars that has been hidden for some twenty years in the lush jungles of Puerto Rico by the US military men who were supposed to burn and destroy it. Stacy Keach as Gen. Parker who's the big star in the movie "Sunstorm" gets knocked off some ten minutes into the film that may very well have been the reason that he accepted the part: He wouldn't have to suffer through the entire movie like those of us who did by watching it. If you forget the plot the movie "Sunstorm" does have both breath-taking photography of the Caribbien, Haiti and Puerto Rico, as well as a number of very beautiful women who just take you breath away: Elena Lyons,Romi Dias, Keren Nations, Rebecca Stauber and Natielie Aranda Clederon. But the story is so ridicules that even those natural, women land & aquatic, wonders couldn't save the film. Were told the story of what happened in the movie by FBI agent Frank Daniels, Ray Raglin, in a D.C bar and strip-joint talking to his close friend and Secret Service undercover man Jack What's-his-Name,Ron Hale.Frank starts off telling Jack as well as the audience that "you wont believe what I'm going to tell you", he was right. By the time he's through with his long and boring story Frank put everyone asleep watching the movie and got Jack drunk trying to stay awake listening to him by gulping down drinks. Big-time international crime-boss Victoria Warren, Bo Derek, got the word from Packard Welsh, Michael Manasseri, that his dad Luke told him on his death-bed that he and Gen Parker and other top US military men hid some two billion dollars that they were supposed to destroy back in 1984. The money printed by the Nixon Administration in 1972 was to be used after a possible nuclear war when the US Treausary system would be nuked. Hidden deep in the jungles of Puerto Rico Warren and her mob are out to get the cash as well as the signature plates that are needed to make it legit. We also have Gen. Parker come back from the dead, via a video tape, to tell his daughter Kelly, Elena Lyons, that she has three other siblings, Maria Natalie & Kristoff and possibly even a forth Ariel, I guess after a while the General lost count, that he never told her about while he was alive. This happens in the late Gen. Parker's lawyers office as it's shot up by Warren and Walsh's goons killing him, the lawyer. The rest of the movie has the four or five sisters, we never know just how many they are, and Gen. Parker's bodyguard and now his daughter Kelly's boyfriend Dave, William Haze,fighting the bad guys all over the island of Puerto Rico. Dave ends the whole scavenger hunt by setting off one of the box's containing the the hidden cash by using his cell-phone and calling the number of a phone in the C-4 plastic explosives that he hid with the money. Frank has at the end of the movie a big surprise to tell Jack as well as the audience but he's so long winded and boring telling it that only Jack seems to be impressed only for the reason that his life depends on it. "Sunstrom" is just too confusing to really understand what it's telling you. The actors in it, Stacy Keach Bo Derek Ray Raglin Michael Manasseri etc., looked and acted as if they were just going through the motions playing their part in it and hoping, like Stacey Keach, to be killed off as soon as possible so that they could finally go home and pick up their pay checks.

• Bo is so mean here, she beats a guy with a stick..... and she's so hot when she does it

  Bo Derek is beautiful again as a sexy warlord in this action-suspense intrigue about the chase for two billion in U.S. counterfeit dollars. When a young woman (Elena Lyons) finds out she has three sisters she never knew about, it becomes time to cut them in on a fortune if she can learn to trust that they are legitimate. Gorgeous women involved in the ensuing thrills are pretty blonde Margaret Scarborough as 'Liana' and Monica Soares with her perfect legs as 'China'. The highlight of the film is when Bo kicks the crap out of Michael Manasseri in a villa courtyard. I think I'd love it if Bo did that to me.

• Entertaining, not a great movie but one good for rental

  I think Ray Raglin was excellent in his role. I am not familiar with this actor. Once again Bo Derek lights up the stage with her presence alone. I am really amazed I have not seen this actor Ray Raglin he seems very comfortable in front of the camera. The plot of the story is some what weak, however the acting I felt was compelling. Keach I felt was mediocre at best, very disappointing considering he has been in very successful films in the past. I am interested in knowing if any new films will be coming out soon that will star either Bo Derek or Ray Raglin. I really feel that Bo seems to be getting stronger with her acting as she gets older.

• Murder and Intrigue in Puerto Rico

  This film begins with an FBI agent named "Detective Frank Danials" (Ray Raglin) being sent to Puerto Rico to investigate the theft of approximately $2 billion from the U.S. Treasury by two former Army officers by the names of "General John Parker" (Stacy Keach) and "Harry Sherman" (Kurt Andon). However, the FBI isn't the only party interested in the location of this money as a wealthy and influential criminal figure named "Victoria Warren" (Bo Derek) has also decided to make certain inquiries as well. To that end she sends a man by the name of "Packard Walsh" (Michael Manasseri) to Puerto Rico to gather as much information as he can. Packard, on the other hand, has other ideas and assassinates both General Parker and Harry before either can divulge where they have hidden the money. This results in both Packard and the FBI now directing their efforts at the daughters of General Parker in the expectation that one of them will lead them directly to the money. What none of them count on is the former bodyguard of General Parker named "Dave Kellog" (William Haze) and his assistant "Liana Kincaid" (Margaret Scarborough) remaining loyal to him and subsequently protecting his daughters in spite of everything. Not only that but nobody fully appreciates the capability and resources Victoria has at her disposal either. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that this film had potential but the acting and direction was totally inadequate for the task at hand. For example, neither Stacy Keach nor Bo Derek were used in accordance with their talents. Additionally, the southern accent used by Michael Manasseri was extremely annoying and never should have even been contemplated. Likewise, the character development-especially on the part of General Parker's daughters-was woefully inadequate as well. Admittedly, there were several attractive actresses like Monica Soares (as "China Sue") along with the aforementioned Bo Derek and Margaret Scarborough to compliment the beautiful tropic scenery. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to salvage what could have been a decent film and I have rated it accordingly. Below average.
