The Night Seekers (2014) Reviews
The Night Seekers: 15 and a half shades of nope
This hyper obscure independent horror movie is an odd one and I certainly don't mean that in a good way. It tells the story of 4 couples who go away on holiday together only to come under attack from, something. Yeah, you never do find out just what they are. Zombies? Vampires? Cultist Cannibals? Angry actors frustrated that they're in this nonsense? By about the half way point however you won't care, you'll just desire the credits rolling. Shoddily made from start to finish the creators not only couldn't write a competent script but the cinematography and audio balancing is an absolute farce. I hate to be mean on these things but this is a fantastic a-z on what NOT to do when constructing a film and highlights that all involved should leave the industry and never return. The Good: Nope The Bad: Truly embarassing acting Character behaviour is unrealistic and baffling The filters used in some scenes are moronic Some poor sound balancing Things I Learnt From This Movie: Sometimes you just need to randomly scream
You guys. What is that?
Four couples vacation on Astral Island. Mimi who runs a hostel, informs them not to go beyond a sign...a place where no one comes back. Not too hard to figure out what they do. And they are attacked by the people on the cover. The sound was uneven, and the camera worked could have been better. The lighting seemed off for much of the film. The acting and dialogue was laughable bad. I couldn't believe everyone screaming at each other while they were hiding...not that it attracted any attention. I couldn't understand the need to go out into the woods and look for sharp objects when they were in a house...steak knives anyone? Guide: One very loud sex scene.
Mess of an indie horror flick
THE NIGHT SEEKERS is another mess of an indie horror flick, completely derivative and lacking in one single element of interest. The story sees five couples heading to a rural retreat for the usual sex scenes and character interaction, only to enter a forbidden zone which brings them death and destruction. This is as boring as anything, lacking in any kind of interesting incident whatsoever, and the whole thing suffers from an overexposed, bleached-out look that makes it difficult to see what's going on.
