Le Ren (Adrian The) who moves into an old house located at suburbs with his girlfriend, Ming Ming (Lenna Lim). They think their new home would bring them serenity and they could start a happy life in there. However, Le Ren is not aware that this house would one day becomes his nightmare... Soon after they move into the house, Le Ren hears some low, muffled sounds from nowhere in the house and one day, he discovers a dumb kid (Soya) in the cupboard who used to live in their house before they move in and he is dead.. The kid keeps asking Le Ren to play along with him. Le Ren chooses to follow whatever the kid asks him to do as he thinks the kid would hurt Ming Ming if he does not respond to his request. Meanwhile, Le Ren's older sister, Le Juan (Phoebe Huang) calls him several times, and keeps asking him to leave Ming Ming but he chooses to not listen to his sister. nice story, but so obviously cheap.
The Noise have a lot of potential, it have a really good story even though we know that they just took a lot of inspiration of horror movies from all around the world, "Insidious" and "Supernatural" TV Series for example. Because of that, it just become somewhat cliché and quite predictable. The acting is OK, just her sister part that looks quite annoying with her forced cry and everything. The twist in the end is really good, even though we know that there is something wrong with the character from the start, we fail to notice that thing. Overall, its a nice horror movie, the only problem is, the budget is so cheap, make this high potential story wasted. If they put a lot more budget for the ghost make-up, background arrangement, mise en scène and everything. This movie will be better. I don't know why, but it just looks decent and so average. But, you still can enjoy this if you love Asian horror cinema. I gave 4 because of its cliché, average acting, and quite poor production value. Enjoy!
One of the better Malaysian horrors
A wealthy couple move into their dream house in the countryside, but little do they know of the gruesome killing that took place there by the previous owners. As the couple keep trying to put the past behind them, it seems that the past has a way of catching up. Overall, the movie is eerie and unexpected. It's not flawless, but it's good if you want to try something new. The rural setting is a nice change from the typical urban scene that Asian horror movies favour. Excellent acting from most of the cast. Also noteworthy is the unique opening scene which is done without actors. Definitely recommend watching this Chinese movie.
