enjoyable and slightly special
This movie happened to be the first I got to see at the recent 2007 edition of the film festival of Ghent, which focused on Argentina. At first I felt totally bewildered and estranged by the all too jumpy camera (I don't think it stands still for more than 2 frames during the first five minutes!) and the sometimes rather atrocious acting (i.e. overacting). Yet this got better during the remainder of the film. The director in the film should stick to directing, but some of the actors were rather good, like the Argentinian actress in the film. In the end the film left me with a feeling of sympathy for this small and flawed, but often engaging project. Don't expect a masterpiece, but it certainly deserves a better overall quoting than it gets now, IMDbers! like 7/10
Great film from Argentina..!
This is a film made with a lot of passion and it's a kind of remake of the legendary Carlos Sorin's A king and his movie but in a key of mockery. The performances of the actors are excellent, specially the one of the extraordinary actress Camila Toker who was impressive in Ana and the others and Saturday, two emblematic films of the Argentine New Cinema. Argentine cinema needs more films like this where characters curse, cry, laugh and in particular show how they really live, in the real life I mean. There's a key scene where Fernando, the director ask his boyfriend Is there any possibility, for small that it was, to save ours...? that is an exact transcription in key of parody of a text in Pedro Almodovar's The flower of my secret. This scene is the key to understand all that is in the brains of the three excellent directors. 10 points Congratulations..! Francisco Abelenda
