I saw this film at a film festival and was pleasantly surprised. I had read lot of negative press and bad reviews about this film. I sat down to watch this film due to Lucy Pinder. Actions movies typically get bad reviews but this was totally written off by Indian critics. The film is a modern day adaptation of the story of Savitri and Satyavaan from mythology. Savitri is emotionally scarred at a young age and is trained in martial arts by a Tibetan monk. She marries an NRI, Satya against her fathers wishes and moves to Las Vegas. Some one has ordered a hit on Satya's life and how Savitri saves him from sure fire death makes up the story. It is a low budget film which looks way bigger than an average independent film. The action scenes are very good and the story has been kept the same as in mythology. It feels good to have a woman beating up goons and taking charge of her husband's life. Music is average and barring Heavy Heavy, all songs have been shot well. Films leading lady, Niharica excels in action scenes but fails to elevate dramatic scenes. Rajat Barmecha suits his role of Satya and delivers full justice. Om Puri is spot on as Yamraaj, the god of death. The film has very western feel to it. Gulshan Grover excels in his portrayal of blind father. Lucy Pinder has a short role and is a horrible actress. Over all a definite one time watch, since its a fast moving film and action has been done very well. The negative backlash is probably from religious fundamentalists upset over sexy portrayal of Savitri, who is considered to be a Goddess in many parts of India.
Totally avoidable flick......Very poor movie by all the way.....
After watching the trailer of this movie First I understood that the trailer is very poor and some negative points showed out(casting, Acting, Dialogues). But I thought maybe the movie will be better. New cast, Interesting premises(Modern day adaptation of the legendary fable of Savitri). But the movie hardly proves that. The trailer is bad but the movie is really and completely bad. Actually, this is a revenge drama. Very typical story line of a woman. She gets injustice all the time and the ugly society always harms her. She has to save her husband from all the evil entities. The premises tells you that it is the modern adaptation of the Savitri from the Mahabharata (Sanskrit epics of ancient India). But if you watch the movie you can understand storyline is very typical and there is nothing new in this story. The direction is very poor, there is no pace of the story, Actually, there is nothing of the story, absolutely poor choice. The actors and actresses acting are very choppy. It is clearly understood that there is no specific storyline and no rehearsals done for the each role. Script and screenplay are as poor as the direction was. Music, Background score, editing, art direction, all are very poorly executed. A total forgettable mess. This is a low budget movie and against "A Flying Jatt" it will show very limited screens across the India and I think the producers didn't think how they cover their investments. But this is not a good choice for the distributors.
